Our poetry book club will meet the first and third Wednesdays each month. In September and October they are reading and discussing poems from Negative Blue by Poet Laureate Charles Wright. The book incorporates a trilogy of three of his prize-winning books as well as some of his newer poems.
The first book, Chickamauga (pages 3-69), will furnish the poems for the meeting September 3rd. Here are the poems that will be discussed:
"Cicada" (p. 14)
"Looking Outside the Cabin Window, I Remember a Line by Li Po" (p. 18)
"Chickamauga" (p. 33)
"The Silent Generation" (p. 37)
"Miles Davis and Elizabeth Bishop Fake the Break" (p. 41)
"As Our Bodies Rise, Our Names Turn into Light" (p. 45)
"Yard Work" (p. 67)
If you find others in this section that appeal to you, bring your ideas.
