Join us at The Nightbird Mystery Book Club, a club for mystery lovers of all kinds, meeting monthly on the 2nd Thursday at 6:30. We plan to read a variety of mysteries, from classic authors like Agatha Christie to moderns like Ian Rankin and Louise Penny. We won’t leave out the cozies either, so warm up your teacups! Members will choose a book to read (available through Nightbird for a 10% discount) and discuss each month.
The April selection is When Beggars Die by E A Allen. The Mystery Book Club plans to read one our great local mystery writers about twice a year. Edward Allen now lives in Prairie Grove AR and is our first choice this year.
"Allen's detective, Gerard de Montclaire, is nicely finessed into both literary and political history. When Beggars Die, first in the author's detective series, tackles murder, intrigue, and a nefarious plot against King Edward VII of England. Marie Collot is dead, and above her lifeless form stands the King of England. The author breathes visceral life into the dark alleys of working class Paris, as well as the extravagant salons of the aristocrats of 1903."
